Workspace Tour: Dashboard, Sidebar and Navigation
A map of the Quartyl workspace: the dashboard KPIs and activity feed, the sidebar navigation and its role-based views, and where every major capability lives.
The workspace is one shell: a dashboard as the front door, a sidebar as the map, and every capability reachable from those two. This tour is the map — what is where, what the numbers on the dashboard mean, and why your sidebar may look different from a colleague’s.
The dashboard
The dashboard is a role view: the same page, different emphasis, because the question each role asks of the practice is different.
- KPI cards — four different sets, one per view. An Analyst sees active drafts, their own studies and the comparables they have processed; a Manager sees pending reviews and the firm’s study count; a Partner sees the firm-wide TP health score, high-risk entities and what is waiting for final sign-off; a Firm Admin sees totals, active studies and pending invitations. The cards are the practice’s pulse, not a study list.
- The activity feed — what just happened across the firm: studies created, runs completed, reviews decided, documents generated. It is the audit trail’s readable face — the same events, in the order they happened.
- The approval queue — the studies waiting on you: the analyst’s pending data and rework steps, In Review studies for the reviewer, and documents awaiting sign-off for the sign-off authority. This is the queue that drives the workflow forward; an empty queue is a healthy practice.
The sidebar: where everything lives
The sidebar opens with a + New Study button (the study wizard), then four groups, then the firm and account block at the bottom.
| Group | What’s in it | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Command Center | Dashboard; My Tasks / Approvals (the firm’s study list, all states) | Everyone |
| TP Workspaces | Benchmarking Results — a completed run, its comparables and its reports | Everyone |
| Intelligence & Analytics | Industry Diagnostics; Predictive Risk Engine (only where the firm’s plan holds predictive_risk) |
Everyone for diagnostics; the risk engine is plan-gated |
| Governance & Audit | Evidence Repository (only where the plan holds evidence_repository); Audit Trails — the study chronology, workflow health, the override micro-ledger, access & security logs, ledger export |
Everyone; export is a Partner-and-up action |
| Firm and account (bottom) | Firm Settings (firm_settings, and Partner / Firm Admin only); Team Management (user_management, Partner / Firm Admin); Billing & Usage (Partner / Firm Admin); Developer Console (api_access, Partner / Firm Admin); User Profile; Help & Feedback |
As noted — Firm Settings also carries the firm’s security and SSO tabs, and a Branding tab when the plan holds white_label |
| Platform (bottom) | Add Plans, Add Firms, Add Superadmins | Superadmin only |
Reports are not a sidebar item. The Excel workbook and the on-demand final document live on the study itself, so the deliverable sits next to the record it was built from.
Three rules about the sidebar:
- It is role-filtered. The main groups appear for every role; the firm and account block does not — an Analyst does not see Firm Settings, Team Management, Billing & Usage or the Developer Console, and a Partner’s view is centred on the review and sign-off surface.
- It is plan-filtered. Capabilities your firm’s plan does not include are not shown at all — there is no greyed-out locked entry point. If a capability is missing from your sidebar, it is either a role boundary or a plan boundary, and the Firm Admin can tell you which.
- Direct links still land correctly. A shared URL to a page your role or plan does not cover redirects you to the dashboard rather than showing you a page you cannot act on.
The global elements
- The user menu (top right) — My Profile and sign out. The profile page carries your name, your password change and your two-factor enrolment; where your role permits it, it is also where you turn MFA off. Recovery codes are issued once, at enrolment, and are never shown again — lose them and the route is to re-enrol (or, for an account that cannot disable MFA, the platform’s recovery path).
- The firm brand — for white-label firms, the firm’s name and accent colour run through the shell: the sidebar header, the sign-in overlay and the claim page all carry it. If your firm is unbranded, you see the platform identity.
- The study state stepper — on every study, the current state and the path through it (Draft → … → Archived), so “where is this study” is answered by the study itself, not by asking.
Your first ten minutes, in order
- Read the dashboard — the KPI cards orient you; the activity feed shows the firm’s current motion.
- Open the study list — it sits behind My Tasks / Approvals. The states are the workflow; pick a study in a state your role acts on and open it.
- Check My Tasks — if your role is a reviewer or sign-off authority, this is the queue that needs you today.
- Skim Help — the in-app help documents are grouped by role and by capability area; the terminology page is the fastest way to stop translating words.
FAQ
Why is my sidebar different from my colleague’s? Two causes, both by design: role (you see the groups your role acts on) and plan (capabilities your firm has not subscribed do not render). Neither is a defect — the workspace shows you the surface you can work on, and only that surface.
Is there a search that spans the whole workspace? The search box in the top bar looks across the firm’s studies by study name or entity name; state is narrowed with the study list’s status tabs, along with filters for jurisdiction, PLI and conclusion. The evidence repository (where held) searches the captured evidence across studies. Navigation within a study is the state stepper plus the study’s own sections.
Where do I give feedback on the product? The Help page carries the feedback and support channel; firms with priority support see the priority card with its own contact route. In-app help documents are the stable reference, the feedback channel is where the product’s direction is steered.
